Installation
The IPSTAR Satellite that Wideband uses has a number of “Spot Beams” to provide coverage over Australia. The majority of Australia’s population is covered by 10 “spot beam” antennas which are represented on the diagram right in red. The satellite signal within these spot beams is strong. If you live within one of these spot beams you will most likely need either an 84cm or 1.2m satellite dish size. The rest of Australia is covered by a single antenna called a “shaped beam”. The signal in areas covered by a shaped beam antenna is far weaker than that in the spot beam areas and requires either a 1.2 or 1.8 meter dish size.
STANDARD INSTALLATION (Spot Beam coverage area’s only)
A standard installation consists of:
- Mounting a Wideband 84 cm or 120cm satellite dish onto a standard Tile or Tin Roof up to 2 Stories.
- Installing 2 coaxial cables from the dish to the satellite modem that do not exceed 30m per cable length.
- Configuring the connection and setting up your Email.
At your dwelling we need:
- A suitable dish mounting position that provides unhindered line-of-sight to the satellite.
- A building with a suitable dish mounting position that is easily accessible and is no more than 2 levels high.
- Maximum cable length of no more than 30 meters between the outdoor dish and indoor modem unit.
Standard Installation is $99 – FREE Until 31st December 2008
NON STANDARD INSTALLATION (Includes shaped beam coverage areas)
Non Standard Installations are subject to approval from the Australian Broadband Guarantee for a Level 5 Subsidy Grant.
How do I know if I am a standard installation or not?
Using your address we can determine if you are covered by a spot or shaped beam antenna and what satellite dish size you will need. We will also ask you some questions about the building that you want the dish mounted to. This will enable us to determine the complexity of the installation.
Around 90% of all installations are a standard installation.
